That's wrong on so many levels it's hard to believe. In any sane society even thinking of building something like that should be an indictable offense.
Nevertheless, it's a great example of getting it done with what you have.

I was trying to think "under what circumstances would this engineering standard be acceptable?".
Then I thought: "breaking out of a POW camp", and came up with this post: Homemade prisoner inventions

Let's amend that to
"breaking out of a POW camp guarded exclusively by stone-deaf guards".
They're just no way you can test that contraption without waking the neighbors.
Ever tried to crack macadamia nuts? That may be just the tool for the job. Surely don't want to hand hold them, though.
