At 15 lbs per gallon a 30 gallon barrel of molasses weighs about 450 lbs. A 55 gallon barrel weighs about 825 lbs. I use molasses on the farm in the winter time for my cows. I usually have molasses in a 300 gallon tote mounted on a steel pallet. The tote has salt dissolved in water mixed with the molasses I am not sure what it weighs. My tractor can not pick up the tote when it is full. I sometimes have an extra 30 gallon molasses barrel around for various reasons in winter. If I stop farming cows I will maybe start making rum.
