I bought this 4" wide metal bending unit from Amazon... $125. Main use will be 1/8" and 1/4" thick mild steel, and 1" to 2" wide.
The problem is that the dies that it showed up with are optimized to bend really thick material.... like up to 3/4" thick, not something I plan to do.
So I made an insert for the "bottom" die, and sharpened up the "vee" point on the top die. I use top and bottom die like they would be configured in a hydraulic press brake for reference.
I think this would be a good bender for many people to buy for making projects, low cost, easy to use, and decent capacity.
The way I ended up mounting this, the wide open die (bottom die) is actually in the top on this piece of equipment.
