    Good followup to your original post, even if it failed.

    FWIW, those "pocket chainsaw" tools (essentially a chainsaw chain with handles on each end, for manual operation) aren't great either, and fall into the large category of survivalist gimmicks.

    Your previous Homemade Tool of the Week winning Compact Retractable Saw is the frontrunner in this category of tools. Also your Micro Folding Saw was a useful build.

    Instead of a chain saw blade, which probably requires in the region of 1 hp to operate on a short blade, how would your idea work if you used a narrow sanding belt? (I enjoyed you touch of humour when you admitted your failure).
