Hi steamingbill
It's not intended to be replicated by no manufacturer, it's just a design I came up with, it's going on the fireplace mantel or in the book case when it's done, but I did want to make it an actual running machine before it finally gets stowed away.
Thanks Doug

Doug,
This will be a fantastic project and looking forward to following along on your build.
Also you have a great choice on your Mitutoyo Absolute self-zeroing caliper and the Mitutoyo digital micrometer. I have these instruments and never regretted paying a little more when buying these a few years ago - I never had any diameter/depth mis-reading and wished I had something similar for my old Starrett conventional depth micrometer set.
Regards,
Paul

Thanks petertha
The spindle is made from 303 St. Steel, the backing plate for the chuck is machined onto the spindle (all one piece) it has shouldered oil light bronze bushings in the headstock, the spindle could be machined to accept an ER16 collet chuck, it has a 3 jaw chuck that I made for right now, the spindle is solid 3/8" round, although it could be bored out, still have allot to do but it's getting there,
Thanks Man

Thanks for your kind thoughts Canobi
The lathe will be for looks mainly, it's probably going to the fire place mantel or book case when it's all said and done, but it will be a working machine!!!
I didn't use any special alloys other than the chuck jaws which were made from O-1 steel and hardened, the bed, head stock and tail stock were made from 1018 steel that has been precision ground all over, I'm taking my time building this little machine because I want it to be as precision as possible, so far I held the parallelism and squareness to .0003" and I'll maintain that accuracy throughout the entire project, I'll be posting stages of the build.
Thanks Canobi

Thanks hemmjo
There will be a unit made that looks like a quick change gear box but it's not loaded with gears for changing feeds or threads, although it will have .002" per revolution feed, the little lathe will not be used as machine in my shop it will most likely end up on the fireplace mantel or in the book shelf, but it will be an actual metal working lathe.
Thank You
