    mini self centering vice

    hey fellow creators,

Thought I'd share one of my favorite tools. this little baby is used often, it locks like superglue and the step in the jaws saves scrounging for
levels, easy to square on the mill.

    overall length:97mm
    width:55mm
    height:43mm
thread 10mm left and right of course
    base:8mm mild
    side channels:16mm mild
jaws:1/4" O1 tool steel heat treated to 55 Rockwell

The handle has a spring with a ball bearing inside to hold handle in upright or level position, note dimple in small part of handle.

The base I opted to attach with screws rather than gouge out to be able to adjust the clearance.

    cheers stevoh

Great design there. How have you fixed the cross piece that engages with the groove in the threaded rod?

Thanks for you message, the cross piece is sitting in milled channels either side just shy of the upper lip. It just slides in from bottom when base is off. Drilled hole same time as thread holes in jaw bodies so all lined up. Assembled sides, cross piece, jaw bodies & base, drilled the lot 7.5mm then removed cross piece then drilled 8.5mm for 10mm thread. Cross piece was high enough to drill complete hole then cut to accept thread from top. Hope this makes sense
    Cheers stevoh

    Hei Stevoh
    I really like your vice.
Any chance to get some more dimensions or even a plan of the "front face" ?

What's the best application for this vise? On a drill press, a milling machine ...other?
