I've considered putting in a pool several times. Cost is 1 factor, above ground semi in the ground in the ground gunite, or pre molded, vinyl liners all have their short comings and a few advantages

No kids to worry about but how to keep the dogs, geese, Ducks and other critters out of it. Would I want to keep it covered when not in use have a screen shade over it so the water temp. doesn't reach scalding in summer, salt water or chlorine decisions, decisions, maybe just forget having a pool. I have enough daily and weekly chores as it is

We have a pool here in Phoenix. It is almost a necessity with 110°F or more all summer.

Last year we had the pool resurfaced with this technique. It was amazing to see these artists form the surface perfectly using simple hand tools. All tools had hooks and they strung lines overhead so no tools were placed on the surface when not in use. They wore shoes with long steel spikes on the bottom so the soles of their shoes were elevated. It cost about $15k but well worth it given that a cracked pool surface rusts out the rebar below it. The pool IS brand new now.
