    Mini Ant Bait Box

Every year when it warmed up we would have a Mini-Ant invasion and exterminator said can't stop them for more than few days.

So we would have ants everywhere for 3 months ... Those pesky little mini ones.

I just wipe them off my food, and grew up with ants in the coffee sugar, no big deal.
.. but others didn't like them.

So 3 Years ago 3D-Printed up Borax & Honey Ant Bait Boxes ...

Changed the design today to make it easier to remove the lids when they get dry Honey on them ... and that is why I am posting this NEW version.

Unfortunately, 3D-Printed items are not as strong as injection molded plastic; however, it seems each year the materials are getting stronger.

For 3 years now, after 24 hours of the ants eating the honey with Borax in it and then taking it back to their nest ...
The next day no more ants for the rest of the year

I post this on Twitter every year for others that are having ant problems

Heard Texas has had some pretty bad mini-ant invasions last few years

Changed the design this year to make the Lids easier to remove:

Probably could do the same thing with a Mint box or jar lid?

    CHEERS!!!

MetalDesigner, this is another great useful thing you have made with your 3d printer keep up the good work.
With every new thing I see in the arsenal or 3d printed items just makes me want to hurry up and get situated so I can get mine.
    Thanks

When you get to the point of making items and need any to be smooth, I did some tests buffing the Metal Casting 3D-Printed patterns using Cross Country Ski Wax.

Posted some additional info in the comments area on the 3D-Printed Digital Angle Gauge Pipe Mount posting on HomemadeTools.net.

Cool. We have problems with them as well. Check out precious plastics website for ideas on makea DIY injecton molding maching. It's easier than you think.

LOVE it. I don't have the gear to make it. about 4 years ago the very small black ants with white feet (need magnification to see feet unless superman) were found here in Queensland Aus and have spread all over. They are apparently from Africa & related to the FIRE ANT. For ant problems, I usually spread artifical sweetener (like sacarin & sugarine etc) that I have heard are carcinagenic to us on nests or where they are active. It really works on bigger ants: the queen is steralized and they die out. But these tiny ones just change their path & make a new path around the sweetener as if they instinctively know it is dangerous to them. They travel in lines & use any hard surface ( like a garden hose or a palm frond etc) to ease their pathway.
    Thanks for sharing.
