Not bad idea, but not here, they run a lot of brass and bearing bronze. Guess what fills up with chips, socket screws. How about socket screws in a counterbore? Not to mention extra height right outside the jaws often interferes when stepped parts hang over the edge.
Preference is hex bolts on common but hardened washers, of SAE proportions.
Extended height Tee Nuts: ? Locating what the world clocks in (vises) at .001 or less, off a cast surface, inside the bolt slot?
