I've done this a number of times. It produces very different results every time. As a general rule it keeps bisecting the aluminum foil until each receiving element or antenna is too small for the microwaves to impart sufficient energy to cause them to burn. The entire process only take a few seconds, then once each foil section is small enough the effect stops completely. Also stinks up your entire house. Don't do it indoors.
