If they now sell the stamped sheet as high art ventilator covers they would have zero waste.

I've used a few scrap sheets found in the scrap yard as decorative panels when I made ornamental security doors and window coverings. No 2 were ever exactly the same and customers would pay triple just to have something that no one else had
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

They were quite popular as a cheap(sometimes only one available...) fence material.
Many allotment gardens are fenced this way to this day.

When I was managing the Sculpture Studio at a Phoenix fine art supplier, I came up with a couple of interesting pieces that used scrap off-fall from our plasma table. They got so much interest that the owners wanted us to start making production pieces exactly the same as the one-offs. I tried to explain the point was to use scraps to make artwork, but I ended up having to figure out what pieces those cutouts came from and programming what had been scrap to cut for the new pieces. That not only negated the point of using scrap (instead of giving it away to our scrap metal guy), but also created a programming and fabrication nightmare. I have to say, though, that I admire the nesting ability of the worker in that video! They were doing nearly as well as I could with computer assistance.
