I'm a smithy as well and had similar thoughts about a non-marring hammer. I would think that metal at black heat might well be a problem since he was molding the plastic at less than 400 degrees. I think I'll stick with a wood mallet. My latest one is from a dead and dry apple tree branch because the wood was available. Works well. I'm sure you have your own ideas. Good smithing.
