To make sure that my faceplate is accurately centred on a bowl blank I made an aluminium plug to fit the centre of my faceplate with a 3mm hole drilled in the plug. To centralise the faceplate I mark the centre of my bowl blank, knock a 3mm pin into the centre, put the faceplate over the pin, put the aluminium plug over the 3mm pin and into the faceplate. I can then drill hole for the screws that attach the faceplate to the bowl blank. The photos are a visual of the method.
