STEM Is that where schools teach Science, Technology, English and Math - i thought they taught that in schools already.
I'm just jealous as i only have a HND, as an undergraduate i kept getting overlooked for positions as i wasnt a school leaver and didn't have a degree. Going down the skills route you would think they would have fallen over themselves to get someone like me. The thing now is finding people who are skilled in Robotics and AI. Hello - what do they think was taught in technical college. The only skills shortage is in Management and HR. I mentioned The test site at RAF Spadeadam above, funny thing is they are struggling to get Instrument technicians and as a result they are having to use a local electrical firm or Industrial and domestic wiring bashers to do the instrumentation. I applied with a HND in Industrial Systems engineering, having studied robotics, industrial controls, sensors, PID etc and didn't even get a response. Employers talk a lot of baloney when it comes to the skills shortage, Judging by the amount of hands on training offered on a degree course i wouldn't be surprised if graduates had even seen any hardware. I am referring to the UK in particular as i know there are some really good education establishments in the US.
