Right now we are encased in three layers; a] freezing rain b] damp snow c] mixed sleet & freezing rain. Resultant crust impenetrable by socially acceptable means, especially those with flying debris.
So, it appears I'm on strike.
I was at a surplus salvage yard in Akron Oh one winter when they had much the same type of snow ice snow fall. about 18" of the stuff so this mechanic gets the bright Idea to clear the drive way and side walk with the steam cleaner. So here he is happy as a polar bear catching fish through a hole in the ice just melting this stuff away there is a fog cloud hovering around him . Snow ice and a powerful blast of live steam condenses and re freezes behind him into a sheet of ice smoother than a hockey rink floor in the -20° weather. after an hour of hard work the situation is 100 times worse than before he started.
The poor guy finally realized it was a loosing battle and went off to find a roll of Astro-turf to cover it . His boss said why didn't you think of that an hour ago?

Because those cashing checks have different priorities of them writing checks.

But isn't REAL test why skinflint didn't direct setting carpet right off? Too common ilk, good inciting their hindsight is superior.
Hells bells, he probably won the auction bringing it to his inventory.

I might know the yard mentioned, monstrous industrial/ construction/ mil surplus liquidators. They're all over craigslist, crying the re-utilization pitch.

I seam to remember the name was D&K surplus and supply but I don't find any reference to them any more I would imagine they were either bought out or forced to move from Akron as they were right near a housing development They are probably located in Canton now under a different name. You have to know this was 1980 when I was there to pick up a M15 A2 tank recovery trailer the problem was it had a 66" king pin height and was 3" in diameter Knowing this ahead of time from my days spent working on the M25 Pacific tractors in my motorpool I fabricated a 24" square box 16" tall with a 2" king pin and locked it to the fifth wheel at the shop where I worked and loaded up a small gas welder on the back of the cab over 9570 International
This is what we made out of it
