I hardly ever do anything perfect – the 1st time. In fact, it's when the shortcomings and modifications are first identified and dealt with – sometimes any number of times – that results start to approach optimal. It's one of the reasons I gave up skydiving. If you roll a gutter ball, while bowling – they don't take you out and hang you.

The fact that this stunt required the jumper to launch himself out – ahead of the 'chute – to effectively somersault into position – below his 'chute – didn't automatically preclude his feet slipping off that snowy rail, and dropping him straight down onto the 'chute – entangled in the rigging. Way too many daredevil-types, canning in while doing completely untested stuff. Like wing-suit jumpers. It's too much like being your own test dummy.

So true but then again there are always extra Darwin awards to be handed out, and these extreme sport addicts earn their fair share every year.
