    Haha, guys...on tour in China now, and visited a Silk factory in Shanghai 4 days ago! Ralph, they tease it out with a bristle brush to find the loose end, yea, it's one long thread....the single cocoons yield the long fibre, the double cocoons for the mass of crossed threads that get stretched out, layered and become filling for comforters and the like. Yes, very labor intensive and hence the $$...but the ladies love it...cheers
