Isambard I have several of my larger hole saws fitted with 1/4" drill rod as well. A couple of my over 5" hole saws solid arbors with a 3/8: pilot. One of my saws is fitted with a #3 MT for the drive arbor
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products
