    Sanding disc, fine, flap wheel, fine, exposed angry grinder grinding disc, NO F'ing way, I've seen the damages one of those failing can do and it's not pretty...

    Yeah, A friend had one blow up and part of it tore open his forearm down to the bone and 8" long. I saw the pictures, the muscle was nearly cut in half. It's surprising that they were able to save his hand functions. He still can't lift much more than a cup of coffee, but the hand works mostly.

    Having one shatter without a guard would be pretty dangerous.

    I've had one shatter with the guard, and it was pretty startling, but not harmful. At work. If I'd just grabbed the grinder and started to work with it, it might not have worked out that way, but I put the guard back on it before I used it. The young guys don't seem to think they can be hurt. I was never that way. (Ok, yes I was. but I learned better.)
