    Any idea why they are coating the suspension cables in concrete?

    While the steel members you are seeing may play a very small part in the stability of the foot bridge once the concrete had hardened. They are neither cables nor are they there for suspension. What you are seeing is welded rebar. this is a handrail system. once the concrete is cured it may be coated with a resin, plaster, sisal fibers, or other media to further decorate the railing or may even be left alone.

    "Faux bois" is French for "fake wood" so, presumably, once the concrete sets it will be coated/painted/disguised to look like wooden branches.

    Thanks Frank - That makes sense. Was thinking it was a structural part of the bridge knowing the first time it flexed, the concrete would break off.
