Make a Homemade Spindle Lock for Your Milling Machine!(Sieg)

    Good morning everyone,
I immediately realized, when my milling machine arrived, that tightening the ER32 chuck practically requires 3 hands, which nobody has!
Because the cutter does not always have a unified diameter and you have to hold it in the collet while closing the nut, or you need more than one chuck with the cutter mounted ready.

At this point I tried, with the space available, to install an anti-rotation block, which was both easy to build and robust.

    I hope you like it!
    Alberto.

Good idea and execution of design.
However, you didn't show the step resulting in the "shark-tooth" imprint on the lock piece.

    Hi Gatz,

    thanks for your comment!

In reality, as I said in the video, it was something unwanted: I placed the spoon in the vice on top of 2 parallel blocks of 4 mm thickness, not thinking that at that point the thickness of the spoon is 8 mm, when I closed the vice probably the vice closed more on the blocks than on the spoon and the result was that the piece tilted and the rotating cutter tried to take it away, very quickly i pushed the emergency red button.

This is why those completely random smears came out even if they are beautiful to look at !!

ATB and a big ciao from Italy !!

    Alberto
