That is the UPS delivery man. Going to Mackinac (pronounced Mackinaw) Island is like stepping into another world! It is one of the most fascinating places I've ever been to. Take Shepler's Ferry if you go, they take waaaay better care of their fleet! Also, pack your most comfortable shoes! And if you're a rock skipper, enter the annual rock skipping competition and see if you can hit the little island off of Windermere point! I can't wait to get back there! I highly recommend the Lake View Hotel but I hear the Hotel Iroquois is quite the spot for a brilliant repose. Rent a bike and ride and ride 185 to the Cannonball which is perfectly situated to stop and grab an ice cream or a burger - I'm particularly infatuated with their fried pickles! Head back to the mainland and check out Fort Michilimackinac right next to the bridge but make sure to drive the bridge all the way across at least once! It's a cheap $4 US each way but it's pretty spectacular!

Flash rain storm could be a tad inconvenient.

I've sat in the balcony of the Lake View hotel many times and watched the rain. Good drainage there, no issues with heavy rain and it gives the street sweepers a break!. I will say there is a downside to it though, just before dawn morning EVERY morning, they wash the streets so if you're on the main street and you're a light sleeper it can be annoying. One more warning: Don't let your kids jump in the puddles in the street, that's not water!
