Thanks for the memory. I remember me as an intern soldering and (diamond-)grinding the carbide tool bits. Chip breaker 20 thou deep and 1/10" wide. They had a diameter of 1" or 1 1/8", a height of 1/2" and a massive 1/2" bolt below. When a circumference section of approx. 3/8" became worn out then the operator turned the bit by about 30°. The 'chip' was a neat blue and violet spiral of about 1/2" which cost some effort to bend. Mystery was that the spirals broke every 5 or 10 inches to handy pieces.
