    M6 fullrange speaker

    Hi!
I built an impressive enclosure for the fullrange M6 (Lii Audio).
The driver has a silk-cotton-bakelite cone (Bi-flex style), clearly inspired by the legendary 755-A Western Electric. Sturdy dedicated frame with compact windows, huge magnet with machined polar pieces, air cooled coil with copper demodulating ring.
The speaker after a short break-in is able to reach deep 40hz bass, the listening performance is probably the best ever experienced with this type of driver.

I wrote a small Pdf with details.
    Happy Holidays!

I won't even pretend comprehension of those specifications, but many famous speaker manufacturers started this way; experimenting in a home shop. One of those is a local pioneer, J.B. Lansing. Despite a proper mindset for business, his name alone googles plenty of results.

You're right He was really a pioneer of audio, lot of drivers and enclosures are still glorified in our days.
I would like to start something related to speakers, but the local market is quite dead, lot of bad products with insane retail price and (mostly) bad sounding.

Having spent 15+ years at Triad Speakers as a Design Engineer, I can kinda-sorta-a-little-bit appreciate good sound.

What I mean is - there is WAY more hype than reality in most of it. And, that said, there's a LOT of Black Arts involved in crossover and enclosure design.

I never got into crossover or acoustic design - I stuck with manufacturing (CNC - CAD - CAM, Lean, process specs, fixtures, etc.).

The sad part is, after all that time, I ended up with exposure-related hearing loss, even though I wore 31dB attenuating muffs all the time.

But, I must say: even the best speakers, in the best listening environment, with the best source materials and electronics don't hold a candle to sitting in the Oregon forest behind my house listening to the birds call their mates. MUCH better design went into those notes.

Sorry to hear that! Quite bad to have hearing loss even with protection equipment.
I would like to visit US, one day!

One of the reasons we chose the location we did for our new house, the quiet is deafening. When the nearby road is wet you can hear the cars a bit, but in summer the trees even muffle that. Half a meter thick walls on the houses mean a band can be playing inside you hear almost nothing at the street.

And for those sensitive to such, the psychic "M-Band" noise is pretty much non-existent. In California it's like living inside a sports stadium at an exciting moment.
