Long time listener, first time caller!

    Good Day!

I finally decided to step into your group so I could let you know officially when I utilize some of your ideas. I felt like I was a voyeur doing something wrong!

I've been in the machine tool business for 45 years but always doing it the old fashion way with manual machines. Couldn't program a drill press at this point if I had to but don't really want to since I do one of a kind work and hate production. Certainly miss the beauty of CNC work but don't miss the tooling cost. Semi-retired, still making a couple machines for some of my old customers. That's my crazy money that I get to pay taxes and insurance on my commercial building. In Indiana the tax rate for commercial buildings is now 3% of assessed value. Building built in 1945 as a Buick dealership so I converted the showroom into a 1000 sq. ft. apartment to rent out and help pay for my "Pee Wee's Playhouse" as my wife calls it.

I'll try to post some work that some of you may be interested in and could use. I'll have to check to see if there's anything worth your time to look at it. But I won't give up and will try to get something together. Until then I appreciate all your work and consideration to share it with others.

Hi, welcome to the forum! I'm not as accomplished as the other builders here, but the ideas, from simple to complex, are just awesome.

    Hi Max,

Welcome! Glad to have you here.

Sounds as though you've got a great tinkerer's background and might find our Machining category to be of interest.

When you're ready to share some of your own homemade tools, we'd love to see them. Please post them directly in the Homemade Tools, subforum. We'll add each one to the database, as well as to your builder page on the site.

Non-tool items should be shared in the Not a Tool, but Homemade subforum.

    Ken
