    Hotz,
How exactly did you make the file shapes? I would like to try this on a much smaller file but same idea.
    Thanks, Paul

Paul... With a blowtorch heat it until the redness point, fixed in a bench vise I change to the way I want, and Cools quickly in engine oil.
In case files to sharpen more thick (eg: Rasp) can be made tools to cut wood on the lathe. an infinity of models.

In the case of cutting tools (Wood) normalizing with better low temperature, have found translation (revenimento) to warm to straw color and cool.

    Sorry my mistakes in english.

Thank you for the explanation and the possibility of making any shaped file using this technique (e.g., custom riffler files).

    Great idea very useful!

I have been thinking about making and autobody slapper with an old file in a similar manner. I will have to try this at the same time too!
