That's the third production P2V-1 Neptune nicknamed "The Turtle" departing Perth, Australia on Sep. 9, 1946 for a record setting nonstop flight to Columbus, OH - 11,236 miles without refueling (hence the crackerjacks waving her off.) With fuel loaded in every available space for the flight Jet-Assisted Take Off (JATO) was required to get airborne.
