    Little Bedan (2mm)

In violin making, when fixing the C linings, you need to mortise them in the corners.
For that, you need a narrow bedan chisel. Additionaly, as you are working mostly from inside the rib crown, you need a little, not too long bedan, hence this little homemade bedan made from a Stanley plane blade.

    Thanks,
I forgot to say, do you know where the term "bedan" comes from ?
It's from the French "bédane", which in old French means "beak of a donkey", referring to the fore tooth of the beast

    Cheers !

Interesting tool. Care to post a pic of the original Stanley blade?

Hi, I'm sorry, I have no more pic of it, but it's a simple replacement blade for stanley #4 purchased at the local hardware store.
I did several tools with it.
