    Line boring bar stabilizers

    the line bore bar worked great even with the Hodge-podge set up however seeing that I could only take a very small cut even using the steady rest to assist in stabilizing the boring bar I Decided what I needed was stabilizer bearings like those I always used on any of my old boring bar setups
    Enter a couple of bearings a pair of housings machined to fit and a pair of shaft adapters which are changeable for different diameter boring bars
    Tack weld these to the sides of thje part being line bored and instantly I can take deeper cuts without fear of the whole thing jumping around on the lathe

    It helped having the 100 year old lathe running so I didn't have to remove the set up from the other one to make these

    Oh Honey?
    See, right there Dear;

    Even Frank S need's two lathes. I bet he's not the only one.
    Can I? Can I? Can I?
    Sincerely,

    Actually I have 3 lathes but one is packed away still awaiting transport
    I have 4 band saws as well But what I really want is a `12" column 5 ft arm radial drill but the one requirement I absolutely insist on is a table mounted on the column that raises and can be swung out of the way and with at least a 4 inch quill 8 inch travel and a #40 taper I can wait
    Never try to tell me it can't be done

    the stabilizers and the boring bar reopens an old venue in Line boring for me. Now I will have to get busy and make several more boring bars plus add several more places in this one to hold cutters, and make a portable machine to power the boring bar only this time instead of something like my Du-more versi mill I want to make it with variable speed and power feed
