Before 2008 it was reported that an F1 team spent $600 Million campaigning two cars.
Then is was a lot of ball bearings, now it's mostly zeros and ones.
    It still fascinates me though.

In the early 1970s I was the factory manager in an F1 team. A few years ago I was visiting an F1 factory. The difference was incredible. Staff numbers now are 20 to 50+ times greater and the QC levels between then and now is hard to believe.
I am glad that I was involved back then rather than now though, in fact I wished that I had been involved 10 years earlier than I was.

If I had to guess: These anchors are too long in conventional 4-slide or coldheading machines, not to mention twisting the helix. So large as production line is, maybe screwing a nut on and pinning is a reasonable simplification? Kind of scratching this old noggin here as well.
Now if they were J-bolts, such as that in a slab floor and mud sill, a nut is obvious.

You know what would make a great topic for a forum? Fasteners.

Fastener knowledge can be widely applied to virtually all DIY hobbies and technical fields. And, fasteners can be intellectually pursued for a lifetime without end.

For example, look at the motor oil forum BobIsTheOilGuy.com.

If it wasn't for people spending their career researching the better bolt, oil, whatever, then we wouldn't have the things we now have.

Personally I tend to be more of a generalist, Jack-of-All-Trades. Fortunately my name is Jerry so anything I build is Jerry-rigged.
