Needed a skiving knife for leather work so used a piece of an old corn knife and of course had to make some leather clothes for it, don't like to have a naked knife laying around in the shop. The knuckle knife lay in flood waters for about 3 months before being rescued by my son and brought back to life by myself. Another new sheath to cover the blade. Used a new way of staining the leather I happened upon through the internet by some fellow and I forget the name but liked his idea so gave it a try and the knuckle knife sheath is how it turned out. I think the color of sheath goes with the brass handle pretty well. The stain I used is very simple to come up with. Take a couple of fine steel wool pads and rinse with paint thinner and put the steel wool in a container of water and let it set for a few days or however long it takes to turn the water a rusty brown. Strain the water through a fine sieve and you have the stain you need. No harsh chemicals or smells to deal with and you can make more anytime you need it. Thanks for looking and any questions just contact me.
