The only improvement to His design I could do, is to cut a nylon washer while He was turning the couplers to put on each end to better hold the saran wrap and act as a bushing at the ends! Other than that I might be looking into making one my self, as I do not cut threads on my 12x36 Atlas and I hate to turn wood, with all the oiled surface's and all!
I've just ordered smaller springs, 20 od, 1mm thick, to reduce bowing. And rather than press washers on the inside, attach on the outside diameter. The reason I chose 25mm springs in the first place was to have enough clearance to mount washers inside. This I feel will work better & neater, wish I thought of this earlier... Oh well haha
