As you know, when drilling small holes, a pecking method is advisable in most cases. On a lathe this would involve spinning the tailstock spindle in, then back out, then back in, then back out, repeat, repeat.... This device as found elsewhere on the web, allows me to set the tailstock in a fixed position and then simply move the lever forward and back drilling the material in the chuck. This tool provides a very sensitive feel for the user and can make short work of deep holes when using the lathe.
