This is another example of the magnetic swarf collection tool.
It is made with 1" 400psi pvc pipe for the outer shell and plugged on the business end with a
piece of pvc that was turned to fit in the pipe and then epoxied in.
Next is a 3/4" 200psi pvc pipe for the inner slider and magnet holder. This piece needed to be
turned down for a sliding fit inside the piece of 1" 400psi pipe.
The end of the inner slider is closed at the handle end with a piece of pvc turned
to the inside diameter and sealed with epoxy. The business end is a piece of HRS turned down
to insert into the pvc and then epoxied in. You will note a few small holes in the side of the pipe
to help the epoxy stay in place. There is a 1" diameter or 25mm magnet stuck to the end of the
HRS. Quite powerful and it will pick up a large wad of steel chips. Just the ticket for cleaning the
mini lathe or even the floor of steel chips.
There is a black rubber washer on the outside of the outer shell and that is what traps the
swarf as you retract the magnet. They are then free to fall into the chip can.
