It appears metalmogul46 sells these for ~$190 USD +shipping from BC, Canada.

There's a cast iron rendition from Sweden available for about the same price on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/Stikkan%C2%AE.../dp/B00NY6RAVE

Great use of scrap lumber pieces. Put it in a pretty box and sell on Amazon to city people for $$.

Actually it wouldn't even need to be in a pretty box! Just use pallet scraps to make the kindlin' box out of also! They'd pay $30.00 plus shipping for that stuff! 15 minutes of work with free materials! If you can I say fleece 'em good!

Minus time spent cutting to length that fits in channel, this is decently fast rate of production. My first thought; incline feed ramp and use a light extension spring or counterweight 'follower' would nearly double through-put. The stacking could proceed while the loaded material is split.

I think acquiring the slats / scrap wood would be the most time consuming. Once had, I could see bundling and cutting 10 -15 boards at a time making quick work of the cut to length step. My thought was to make the splitting blade 2" - 3" tall and stacking the boards 4 or 5 high in the feed. That would increase output 4 or 5 fold.
