Just to say I'm looking forward to getting involved

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and thought a quick introduction would be in order. I'm a retired mechanical engineer. I did the move to Florida thing so as to not have to shovel snow and dig out the car any more. My wife and I live on the west coast of Florida near Fort Myers.

I have a Grizzly G0619 bench top mill and a G4003 lathe as well as a host of woodworking equipment. Since, like a typical Florida home there is no basement, I have a small shop in the third stall of our garage.

I have been watching a lot of the machinist channels on YouTube and have learned a great deal.

I hope to make occasional contributions to HomemadeTools.net - Encyclopedia of Homemade Tools as I come up with ideas for my shop. I'll try to document the tools sufficiently to allow someone to copy them.

Please bear with me as I attempt to do postings as this is all new stuff for me. Your help and comments would be appreciated.

Welcome!

We moved to Florida for the same reasons. I love sending photos of palm trees back to friends and family up north in mid-winter!

Sounds like you have a great shop setup in your garage; we'll be looking forward to seeing your work. What's the next homemade tool on your build list?
