My girlfriend bought a Cricut. It's a mini plotter like this, but you can put blades in it to cut material too. We've been cutting vinyl and applying it to glass and stainless steel. Then I sandblast it and peel off the vinyl. It does an amazing job.

I have a Silhouette Cameo 4 that I purchased to make signs for my neighbor`s automotive shop. I made his originals about 18 years ago and he wanted new ones. I tried to paint them with the old lettering brushes but had been away from doing it so long I had lost the muscle memory. Cutting reverse stencils and spraying worked very well, in addition to doing small lettering with vinyl. Another use I found was being able to cut out perfect gaskets from manila file folders and cork. It`s a bit tedious to get the perfect gasket but when they don`t sell them anymore or you have to have one sooner than they can be shipped, it`s a lifesaver.
