I am a retired son of a machinist and innovative engineer. I have enjoyed attending local farm auctions and buying odd tools all of my 68 years. For several years our family manufactured hay hooks for handling small hay bales in the shop in the back of my Dad's hardware store. Both of my grandfathers were very creative and resourceful in making tools out of surplus items since they both grew up on a farm and during very hard times.
