    Intro: I'm a furniture designer

    I'm a retired industrial designer, I design and prototype furniture, and I just finished building a new studio. Most pieces I design are based on turnings so I have two wood lathes (one is a pattern lathe, who really wants to spend a day turning 16 identical spindles), the usual wood shop machinery plus, a machine lathe and an outdoor blacksmithing and welding area (wood shavings and sparks don't mix).

    I make a lot of jigs and fixtures, special chucks, turning tools, custom hardware, etc. and am always looking for ways to streamline my process.
