This day the incinerator was being used as a pet cremation furnace (they also dispose of medical and general waste).
The deceased were loaded into the furnace before it had reached operation temperature and was ignited. The gradual heating caused the production of too much carbon monoxide, which pressurized the chamber with the flammable gas. This then ignited with the furnace and caused the explosion.
Normally the furnace is supposed to be in a fully active state before anything is added, as then whatever it is is incinerated before any excess gases can build up.
The guy standing right next to it is fine fortunately, because he wasn't standing in front of the door which weighs about a tonne by itself.
I've been asked to keep the location private as people may be liable for the error and it's all very recent.
