Yea, you don't want to be in the bay or shallow water when that happens. He did the right thing, though be it running away, LOL. Head to the deep water so the wave will diminish in height (not strength but height) because of the depth of the water and the spreading out of the wave energy.

Well, there is one advantage to being in the middle of Oklahoma. Any Tsunami that makes it here is probably not going to be the worst of my problems.

Isn't Oklahoma in the middle of "Tornado Alley".

Yes, but you can dodge a tornado several ways. I was directly in the path of the May 3rd, 1999 Super Tornado. It went right over our heads, but we would have been safe even it it hadn't jumped over us as we were underground. I also grew up in earthquake country. You cannot dodge them. Been through several hurricanes, as well. They can spawn thousands of tornados, and you need to leave days before to dodge them effectively.
