Here is a simple "old school" tip up for ice fishing I made yesterday. All materials are basically scraps I had on hand in the shop. 1/2"x1/2" pine for the frame, the trigger rod is a piece of 3/32" welding rod, it is protected by the trigger tube which was made of a piece of fiberglass tent pole held in place with a couple small fence staples, the flag spring is a piece of bandsaw blade with the teeth removed, it has a brass jump ring on the end I made quickly, the spool was the fun part, two fender washers and a scrap piece of brass tubing soldered together, D&T for a screw that acts as the trigger, and some random bolts and nuts from my hoard of junk. The orange flagging material will soon be replaced with a neon cloth "flag" I just haven't cut it out yet
