I watched my dad and a fishing buddy of his struggle for over an hour to keep their Jon boat from sinking from the weight of their trout line haul of channel catfish, in a fast moving river. 2 men in a 10 ft flat bottom aluminum boat a 10 hp outboard water moving around 10 MPH 20 ft deep with 2 to 3 inches of free board trying to travel up stream less than 1/4 mile. Actually I was hearing them more than seeing them as the only thing I could see was the light from their Coleman lantern on the bow

I remember, 50 years ago, being in my uncle's boat when a company was doing underwater blasting, we almost swamped it when we loaded, but by the time we arrived at the beach, we were sitting half a foot higher due to the number of fish that had flipped over the sides. We ate fish for the next four months!

An old Jerry Clower joke about the game warden and the Louisiana fisherman the grist of it went something like this.
The game warden hears KABOOM and goes to investigate. Finding a local fisherman sitting in his boat dipping fish out of the water decides this must be the guy. He pulls along side the fishing boat and steps aboard to see the mans catch and to explain that dynamite fishing is illegal. While sitting there telling the man how ecologically unsound this type if fishing was very bad and that he was going to have to arrest him for it. The fisherman calmly sits there listening to his speech while still dipping fish out of the water finally he had all of the fish in the boat he very calmly picks up a stick of dynamite cuts the fuse to very short then lights it and tosses it to the warden. MR Warden that is a short fuse on that stick you have 2 choices you can either hold on to it and arrest me or we can go fishing.
