There's a wonderful short film "Cooperage" made by Phillip Borsos back in 1976. It won the Canadian Film Award for Best Theatrical Short. For some reason (rights problems?) it isn't available online or on DVD. But it's really terrific. It all takes place in a family run cooperage that's been around forever, with the line shaft in the ceiling and drive belts coming down to the machines. I saw it in a musical instrument-making class back in about 1985. I would love to see it again.

Tule- yes, it is... sort of. I had forgotten there was this terrible copy on YT. I should have mentioned it in my post. The combing effects are so distracting, the resolution are so bad, it almost doesn't qualify as "seeing the film." And it's in black and white, btw - not sepia.

But thanks for tracking it down and posting!
