Worn out tonight, resisting urge to calculate bore diameter of the model. Certainly more than a big orange.
I was thinking A close proximity scaled off of a modern reproduction with conversion cylinder might fire the 40mm grenade

per this and other sources I've read, it's about 1" caliber. https://www.wideopenspaces.com/world...-action-video/ No idea of the charge, and yeah the setup to machine that baby probably includes at least one thing made by the Mesta company

Interesting "open carry" scenario. Of about 5 carrying guns only one acted decisively and effectively. Number 3 was so pathetically slow and bumbling with his clothes, the perp shot him first. Number 2 was closer, but stood there not knowing what to do, and was shot second. Number 4 was the only one with a gun that appeared to actually have some training and acted decisively and effectively. I think I saw a few others in another aisle with guns that acted after it was all over. Of the 5 with guns, only one was effective! Clearly some "open carry" folks are "play acting" and have deluded themselves into thinking they are an asset when in fact they are a liability to themselves and others. However, had that 20%er not been there . . .

The guy who shot him was a firearms instructor, and had previously been a reserve sheriff's deputy, and was previously in the National Guard.

Most people, when faced with a situation like that, have to wait until they have finished messing their pants, before they can even being to think about actually taking action. Let along have it be accurate, correct, effective action.

A lot of people think, just because they attended the class, fired off the minimal rounds at the range to qualify them for their concealed carry permit, that they are now suddenly transformed into modern-day Paladins, "Richard Boone", they have gun and will travel. Or they have visions of being any of the other movie or TV show actors.
Nothing can be further from reality, even trained veteran police officers, and active or veteran combat military, won't always be able to immediately stir into action in an active shooter situation. First instinct is to duck and cover, locate, Identify, evaluate, plan and execute, only when a clear shot which does not place innocents at risk. How long it takes an individual to do this depends on how well and how recently they have trained themselves, and the circumstances of the current situation.
I'd like to believe I would be the take down guy, but in reality, I know I would make a better backup guy. At least I would hope I wouldn't be the one to make myself a target of opportunity.

Saw this one recently, from Australian news. It wouldn't even be newsworthy in the US. The indoor firing range is rare, but the rest of this is not abnormal in America.

Looks like an "arsenal" of less than ten firearms, and - gasp - "more than a thousand rounds of ammunition!", some of which was apparently "unlicensed". And the clincher: it was built "without council approval".

Holy terror! Over and under shotguns! Bolt action rifles! A work bench for modifications! Sofa on a false floor! No building permit!
    No wonder.

Note choice bits to heat up the "News At 11:00".

Down Under used to mean a pleasant destination. Seems now just a thumb.
Buck up lads, they're trying here as well.

That video from Western Australia was part of the prep for the launching of their next round of banning things, some of the other coverage, not just of that 'bunker', included .308 bolt action 'hunting' (pest control) rifles to be banned. And it's spreading as the UK 'captured' press is now pushing for further gun controls, I suspect on behalf of the WEF who know just like the Nazi's did, an otherwise law abiding population many fight back against enslavement and ethnic cleansing, if they have the means.

Which turns out identical to "yeah, we can legislate that".
