Thank you for sharing this. I have a few questions, though:
1) I noticed when you put the zip ties on to secure the hose, it appeared the hose (pickup tube) was nearly flattened. How is that picking up enough fluid?
2) What kind of glue was that?
3) If the new pickup tube goes all the way to the top of the reservoir now, how does it still work in right side up position?

I posted this about two weeks ago.
I think.. instead of using glue. This works better / is more reliable way.

I used much the same method some time ago, but I used an aluminium tube with a thread cut into it and threaded the pick-up hole to match. I remember hitting a snag where the reservoir sucked in air and built up pressure which blew out the rubber stopper. I solved that by putting a filter breather in place of the stopper. Since then I converted to an external pump which overcomes the problem of pumping upwards on my press.
