I've been around plenty Riverine and littoral craft; never saw a hand cranked launcher of any kind. A little surprised with the halting, jerky mechanism, not typical for Honeywell products. Part must be how the chamber and breech work. It's belt fed from left, the empty cases look like still in the belt exiting right side (13 seconds in), so not chambering and extracting in a firearms conventional way. Not a single shot, proper term is repeater, the ammunition quite certain same as M79, except the belt.

The Enterprise CVAN 65 had rifled 20mm deck guns mounted on sponsons to engage surface craft, nothing sophisticated like Oerlikons, Bofors, Crane or Washington Yard etc could make. The shells were impact primers, can't remember the trigger, and don't appear in any scale model of the ship. I think they were made by GM!

Yes, Honeywell operates sites under the NNSA, as prime contractor; so did Bendix, and Allied Signal. Remington ran various ammunition plants for the Army, right now it's Winchester. Not everything government does is azzbackward.
No one makes 'atom bombs', another contrivance of the media; there are programs to build components used in nuclear weapons. Rest assured, they are about the safest product on earth.

Comments here, in what we call HMT.net, pop in like they do sitting around a table, really conversational. Technically and internet-wise, elsewhere they'd be labeled "thread hacks" for wandering off subject. That practice isn't true here, we revel in details. In better than 6 years of posting and seeing, it's held true.
Site is far older than that. Catching up on earlier topics, same thing. We all like to see what others bring, unlike certain other forums.
Personally, of all the web I interact with, this is the most active and positive spot that exists.
I'd say (sure, it's a guess) with participants (and native languages) all over the globe not every phrase is universal. Anything that introduces others is just plain good.

Honeywell once owned and operated a huge ammunition plant just outside Minneapolis. I remember driving past that plant and being amazed at the scope of the place, stretching hundreds of acres. Honeywell sold it off in the early 1990's, because the CEO's wife got arrested at a local anti-nuclear protest, and she didn't like her husband's company profiting from war-things. The spin-off created Alliant Tech Systems (ATK), which has become a major force in military weapons development.

They (ATK) sure did, they ran Lake City Army Arsenal as well. Kind of in my backyard. The most beautiful array of old but well maintained ammunition equipment, toolroom, and the grounds themselves.
Right now it's Olin, before ATK, Remington. Capability of that plant alone is 1.4 billion, mostly small arms. Wish I had a dime for every round of LC brass I've expended, drawn from Uncle Sam's own armories on base.
