    Hello,

    I have got an awful internet connection so cannot watch the video.

    I had previously believed that this sort of thing wouldn't work due to the drill press having various issues with lateral forces imposed by being used as a lathe.

    Did you put in some fancy new bearings to get around those issues ?

    As for what you're asking me, that slack is generated when you go downstairs, being embedded in its place has hardly any slack at all.

    I believe the issue you mentioned relates to the morse taper 2 which is what holds the chuck in place. I have a commercial lathe that uses the same morse taper arrangement to hold in the live centre ate the tail end of the lathe. As long as the piece is held in tightly it is not an issue.
