We're increasing the prize for winning Homemade Tool of the Week to $100

The prize amount for the previous eight years was $25, and we've now handed out over $10,000 in Homemade Tool of the Week awards.

A small portion of the increase is due to the unusual inflation that we're experiencing. For most consumer purchases, it's obviously higher than the official numbers are reporting, but of course it's not 400% over the past eight years.

More importantly, I know that people's main motivation for building homemade tools isn't to win awards, but the contributions that they are making every week are very valuable to this community. It's difficult to place a dollar amount on those contributions, but I want the value of those contributions to be better reflected in one of our greatest traditions - our weekly contests.
