Surely we aspire a better quality of workmanship on this forum? His welding is atrocious!

Considering range of experience, material resources, facilities and infinite variables; it's not so much each single project, but concepts.
There is a distinct gap between prototype and marketable product.

He chose to paint it! He has been shown recently welding a shaft to the gear hub of a reduction box
on his idea of a wood splitter!
By your philosophy, are we to take it that your soubriquet, is more indicative of a "home toolmaker",
rather than of a time served toolmaker of the machinist variety?

Aaaa geee. The jig is up. Confessing as mere 'home toolmaker'.........

As whose made his home in machine trades; beginning with decision to pursue same from 6th grade on, in paid status just under 107,000 hours. The same consulted to remedy flight deck issues with USAF C-17's. Same whose resume caught eye of prime contractor for the entire battery assembly line at Reno Tesla. Same whose collection includes 3 First Place Lathe Operation at Navy Week in San Diego; a ringer? Yeah, my rating was Quartermaster. Same as co-patentee in direct food service bar cold-plate, another for assembly of digital satellite recorder tape decks. That selected of 44 applicants to THE Customer Application Agent for largest industrial auction ever in the United States. The same, through mentorship advised 9 FIRST Robotics Teams, and member of judges for 8 Greater Kansas City Science Fairs....not to mention a few well received posts here and there online.

    You get the idea.
I do not let any level of sophistication reduce project features put forward by someone. In parallel, suggest researching concept-proofs of J.M. Browning toward cyclic gas operation, physical examples are retained in several US museums; the first one worked. Then compare with first attempts by others at powered flight.
